tales from the cubicle
Things in and around my cubicle: On top of computer monitor: plastic figurine of Buttercup from the Powerpuff girls, with homemade eyepatch and little nametag that says "Barnacle, the Powerpuff Pirate." framed wedding picture. On top of tower: small stuffed Eeyore, standing on top of the soundtrack from Les Miserables. On desk: Classic Pooh mug full of Lifesavers. 3 empty Mountain Dew cans, artfully arranged. One mostly empty Mountain Dew bottle. One half-eaten jelly doughnut (in progress). Lots of papers and pens and junk like that. On shelf behind me: one framed picture of YMB. one framed picture of me and Blue in Mexico. one funky clay snowman, wearing a hat with a bird perched on top, made by YMB. Shakespearean insults magnetic poetry kit, with various insults stuck to edhe of metal shelf. a French dictionary. a Latin dictionary. an "instant reference" British history book. an oversized Powerpuff girls birthday card from Blue and YMB. Pinned to walls: A quilt calendar. a sign that says "Welcome new guy" with letters cut from the newspaper. 4 cat pictures. 3 pictures of Blue. 3 YMB pictures. 2 pictures of SmartKid and Buttercup. One picture of black-eyed susans from my mom's garden. 2 arty postcards. 12 comic strips (9 Rhymes with Orange, the best comic in the world; 1 Fusco Brothers; 1 One Big Happy, 1 Bizarro) Poster featuring Shakespearean insults. 7 brochures from various trips, including 1 from the Stratford-Perth museum's Lucy Maud Montgomery exhibit; 1 from The Charleston Museum; 1 from Drayton Hall, in Charleston; 1 from Clancy's Dinner, in Savannah; 1 from the Biltmore Estate, featuring the Vanderbilt Women exhibit, and 1 from the Nathaniel Russell house(also in Charleston). 4 pictures printed off from the Gallery of Regrettable Food, one of the funniest websites in the world. Taped to filing cabinet: 12 postcards -- in order from left to right, Charleston SC, the Michigan Brigade Monument at Gettysburg PA, Saint Louis Gateway Arch, Tintern Abbey, a picture of a tea service now in the possession of the USS Constitution Museum but originating from SC, the Library of Congress, the Paris Opera House, Biltmore Estate, a fountain in Savannah GA, the USS North Carolina in Wilmington, NC, the Chicago shoreline, and a reproduction postcard from Fort Sumter stating unequivocally "Here the Civil War began."
Several Powerpuff girl stickers. Hanging from key in lock of overhead storage cabinet: plastic Buttercup keychain that yells at you when you push a little button. GB is breathing down my neck, so that's all for the moment.
