thongs

I love this. And I'm lusting after the t-shirt. I want to be a Library Avenger!

I just whined and whined in my earlier entry, so now I have a funny story that I'd forgotten about. Apparently Auntie was at the dollar store the other day with T and Bubbles, who is 5. Bubbles has this thing about wearing underwear, in that she doesn't. She usually starts out the day with them, but manages to lose them somewhere. I don't know, I don't understand, I don't ask. So at the dollar store, they see some thong underwear. Bubbles informs Auntie that she wants some of this "grown-up lady underwear." Whereupon T proceeds to tell her that this sort of underwear is immodest and good girls don't wear it.

My comment was, "um, wouldn't thongs be better than nothnga t all, if it would get her to actually wear underwear?" This child is starting kindergarten in a couple of weeks, and underwear is just one of those things you need to have accepted by that point.

I don't get it. T and R are annoying because they are so inconsistent. They seem to be quite religious and devoted to their church, which is LDS. They were the "modesty garments" required by the LDS and are quite well-respected in their ward. They harp on their kids, Bubbles and the Diva about modesty and behavior and stuff. But this is the same women who lets our senile, incontinent, mean grandmother keep her 5 year old for days at a time whenever Bubbles becomes inconvenient. Same people who loudly got it on in the bathroom at the summer cottage with their kids, Buttercup, Kitty and CF all in the house, in the next room. Who made a homemade porno and then left it at the cottage, where CF found it. On and on. But hey, thongs? THOSE are immodest.

I don't get it.

Oh, but Yay! Blue just called to tell me that our house is being worked on as I type, and we should be able to go through it by tomorrow because they are supposed to be working extra to get it at least put together today. YAY!
