caerula's Diaryland Diary

weekend: yay! ow! blah. good. ick! um... yay! blah. erg.

It was a tiring but productive weekend. Saturday morning I worked on the programs for Minnie's wedding and finally finished the template around 2 pm, although I am still waiting for her to email me the Order of Service so I can finish the actual content. Then Mom helped me finish the tapestry wall-hanging I got on close-out for MIL's Christmas present, which is completely not to my taste but which MIL will love, and also QueenV's bellpull, the Mary Engelbreit "It's good to be queen" design, which is perfect for QueenV. Now I just have to wait for her Barbie furniture to arrive and I can send off her box. Since QueenV is moving to Boston for graduate school in January, we decided her Cool Shaving Ken needed a new living space as well, so she's get the Trendy Loft playset, with a futon and a butterfly chair.

After I got home on Saturday I sat at the computer for too long trying to figure out why my email account would receive but not send (a mystery I still have not solved), when I was suddenly struck with a major stabbing pain on my left side. I quickly realized that the cyst my ob/gyn spotted on my left ovary must have ruptured. It's happened before, which is how I recognized the pain -- the first time it happened, when I was in college, it was my right side and I nearly got operated on for appendicitis before they figured out what it was. But it's been at least five years since one ruptured, and I'd forgotten how much it hurts. Fortunately I still have some Tylenol 3 in the medicine chest from my laparoscopy, so I spent the rest of the evening fogging out on the couch watching ice skating and occasionally doubling over in pain.

By yesterday it had faded to a dull ache, kind of like someone kicked me the side, so we proceeded with our plans to hit the mall, since we still had to get YMB fitted for his tux for the wedding since he's going to be an usher. At the tux store we ran into one of the doctors from the office I worked at in college. The cute one, of course, that I had a crush on way back then. He recognized me first, which was nice, and I was happy I was with my boys so that he can go back and inform the office staff that he ran into me and my husband (which is shallow, but hey). I stammered and felt like an idjit. Argh.

We then proceeded to Target, in search of more tiny white lights for our tree. Target had all sorts of fancy lights, but no regular old white lights. We did acquire a new tree topper, a pretty leaded glass star, a few little ornaments, and odds and ends like doggie treats, peanut butter, and pop. Then we went next door to Joann's Etc, where not only did they have lights, all their Christmas stuff was half off. Score. So we got lights, and ribbons, and do-dahs, and came home and decorated the tree, finally, and it looks beautiful despite all the needles shedding already.

I'm still a little sore today, but fairly recovered. I'm peeved at my home computer, which aside from the email problem is acting funky, and I'm peeved that I downloaded 50 messages this morning from the sublist either about so-and-so being in one or the other or both chat rooms, or welcoming a friend of so-and-so who has possibly never read DLS and only joined the List for access to Sublist. But, I'm not letting List issues get to me. Not not not, although I did fire off an email to the moderators-in-general about it, which perhaps I shouldn't have, because really, there's not much we can do that won't piss off multitudes of people, and I just am not up to dealing with that right now. I don't have time for this.

Blue is off today and is out finishing my Christmas shopping. I gave him several options, so I hope to be surprised, but pleasantly.

And that's all she wrote.
